Meccanica is a company in the North West of England that makes British classic clothing with a contemporary twist.
Born out of a cycle and motorcycle heritage our classics are inspired by individuality, speed, style and beauty of anything with two wheels or four. We fuse a passion for British engineering with Italian design; our aim is to celebrate both nations’ rich cycling and motor racing heritages. In case you were wondering, Meccanica is Latin for machinery.
All pieces are meticulously designed and brim with detailing. Our cottons and wools are carefully chosen from quality, sustainable sources. They are then made by small manufacturers with many years of experience between them. These artisans build our clothes to last.
We have rediscovered the ‘Bolenium’ brand of retro-inspired, British designed and made apparel. Bolenium was the driving over-all of choice for 50’s racers such as Sir Stirling Moss; even Sir Winston Churchill wore Bolenium. Each piece is individually hand-made to the highest standards, using the finest quality sustainable materials – resulting in affordable bespoke, original garments that are a pleasure to wear and be seen in. These include Jeans, Chino's and Jackets.
If you wear Meccanica you are in good company. Sir Chris Hoy, Jason Kenny OBE and Ant Anstead own Meccanica.
We believe that people should not be excluded by size so we make from small to 4XL and 28” to 44” waist while keeping a good cut and style.
It has been a long time in the planning and execution; it is not easy to make affordable, quality products in Britain any more. Meccanica is one of a small and growing number that is intent on changing that.
